Patricia A. Carroll, age 83, of 1040 Village Square, Altoona, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2004 after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Avenue, Eau Claire, Wisconsin on Monday, February 23, 2004 at 12:00 noon with Father Eugene Klink officiating, burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at Fuller-Speckien Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire and at the church on Monday from 11:30 until time of services.

 
Patricia was born on December 29, 1920 to Lawrence and Nellie (Hazzard) Smith of Eau Claire. Patricia attended St. Patrick's Grade School and graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1938. After graduating from High School Patricia attended Eau Claire State Teachers College from 1938 - 1940 where she met George "Mike" Carroll. They were later married on October 25, 1943 at St. Patrick's Church in Eau Claire. 
 
Prior to marriage, Patricia worked briefly at Eau Claire Leader-Telegram. She was a life-long member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was president of the Immaculata Ladies Society for many years. "Pat & Mike" enjoyed attending sporting events together such as badger football, Rose Bowls, the Masters, basketball games and golf. Patricia loved reading books and enjoyed cards and Dine-a-Month Club with her friends. Patricia was a member of Eau Claire Golf and Country Club. She also traveled extensively with Mike all over the U.S., Canada, Hawaii, Mexico, Bahamas and Alaska. Patricia loved golden retriever dogs and her family had many. Patricia was a member of DAR, daughters of American Revolution. 
 
Patricia is survived by her husband, George "Mike" Carroll, four children, Georgia Hill of Mission Veijo, CA, Mike (Helene) Carroll of Rockford, IL, Patrick Carroll of Glendora, CA and Dan (Peggy) Carroll of Eau Claire; one brother, Lawrence Smith of Minnetonka, MN; five grandchildren, Trisha (Jeffrey) Joines of CA, Jennifer (Chad) Simmons of CA, Kathleen Carroll of CA, Kathleen (Timothy) McDermott of Iowa and Joe Carroll of Rockford, IL; three great grandchildren, Jeffrey and Michael Joines of CA, and Helena McDermott of Iowa. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Nellie Smith; sister, Alvaretta Atkinson and son-in-law, Jim Hill. Patricia will be missed by many friends and family.
