Doris Backstrom, 95, passed away peacefully with all her children present on January 6, 2004 at the Syverson Home. Doris was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on December 12, 1908 to the late Carl and Esther Johnson.
She attended Wausau Business College and worked as a secretary before raising her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Marion Bennett and Lois Austin, and her husband Harold Backstrom. Doris is survived by her sons John Grinsel, Eau Claire; Jim Grinsel (Diane), Wausau, WI; Dave Grinsel (Kathy), Neenah, WI, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Eau Claire at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17 with the Reverend Dr. Mark X. Pirazzini officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2025 E. River Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55414, has been established in memory of our mother. The family would like to thank the staff of the Syverson Home for the care that they gave to our mother.
