Donald J. "Don" Boehmke died April 23, 2004 at home under the care of Hospice. Don attended the Eau Claire Public Schools until he left for the military. He served his country in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Navy aboard the USTA Cristobal.
After his service in the Navy, Don worked at Uniroyal. He was employed at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire where he stayed for forty years, retiring in 1992. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman; he loved fishing and hunting with his nephews. He was a quiet man, a wonderful listener with quite the sense of humor. Don had great love for his family and always put them first.

His wife Emma, daughter Betsy Ann, son-in-law Jeff Sajdak and grandson Grant survive him. His twin sister Donna Barrett and brothers Peter and Robert also survive him. Also many nieces and nephews survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Clara (Bitter) Boehmke, stepmother, Ann, two brothers, James and Jerry and his sister, Doris Grifzau.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Fuller-Speckien Funeral Home on Rudolph Road with Pastor Brian Carlton officiating. Family and friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to Northwest Hospice, P.O.
