Erna A. “Erin” Boettcher, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at Dunn County Healthcare Center in Menomonie.
 
She was born in the town of Brunswick, the daughter of Augusta (Klopp) and Alfred Hangartner. 
 
Erin married Ervin O. Boettcher on October 9, 1935. She had lived in this area all of her life. She had been a resident at Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation in the town of Eagle Point for the past several years. Ervin preceded her in death on October 10, 1981.
  

She was active in the community as a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Eau Claire; the Eau Claire Christian Women’s Club; Westgate Sportsman’s Club; the Chippewa Valley Museum; District 1 Homemakers; Red Cross Bloodmobile; and volunteered her time with the Sacred Heart Auxiliary. She is a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and sung in the choir. She enjoyed her work with the elderly and shut-ins, and also enjoyed catering many local events.
 
She is survived by her son, Byron (Mary) Boettcher of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Laurie Boettcher, Katie Hughey, of Eau Claire, Matthew (Konnie) Boettcher of Fall Creek; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
 
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Oscar Hangartner; and four sisters, Lillian Young, Olga Flynn, Alice Nelson and Evelyn Fried.
 
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 30 at Fuller-Speckien Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Venberg officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Eau Claire.
 
Friends may call one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home. 
 
Memorials in Erin’s name may be designated to Bethesda Lutheran Church.
