Larry Joseph Brock, 34, of Altoona, died Saturday January 3, 2004 at his home following a long battle with cancer.
Larry was born May 11, 1969 in Eau Claire, the son of George L. and Grace (Evermoen) Brock. He graduated from Altoona High School in 1987. He attended Chippewa Valley Technical College where he received his degree in Machine Tool. He later went on to complete his apprenticeship as a toolmaker at Phillips Plastics in Eau Claire and has worked there for the last 12 years. Larry married Katrina ("Kathy") Mattison on July 4, 1992 in Eau Claire.

Larry was a former first responder/fire fighter with the Altoona Fire Dept. He was involved with the Altoona Youth Hockey Association as a player, father and coach. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his friends and family. Larry was baptized into the Christian Faith on May 1, 1983. He was an active member of the Altoona United Methodist Church where he served on the church board and sang in the choir.
Larry is survived by his wife Katrina ("Kathy") Brock and his 2 sons, Teegan (12) and Trever (9). Also by his Father, George (Cheryl) Brock of Chippewa Falls, and mother, Grace Brock of Altoona; 4 sisters, Joyce (John) Knudson of Altoona, Sally (Perry Kallenbach) Johnson of Wheeler, Connie (Bob) Ludy of Menomonie, Nancy (Doug) Gearhardt of Altoona; 1 brother, G. Steven (Helen) Brock of Eleva; 1 Step-Sister, Christi (Lyle) Stoll of Chippewa Falls; 1 Step-Brother, Andy (Christine Fantanzo) Belger of Rochester, NY. Also by his Mother-In-Law, Gail Mattison of Altoona, Parents-In-Law, Jeanette and Allen Aubert of Eau Claire, Daryl and Cheryl Mattison of Elk Mound; Sisters-In-Law, Tamara (Mark Floyd) Mattison of Dallas, TX; Brothers-In-Law, Rick (Linda) Mattison of Tomah, WI, Rob (Laura) Mattison of Altoona and Michael Aubert of Eau Claire. He is further survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, many special friends and his "faithful friends" Echo, Utah, and Tabby.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Mabel Evermoen of Shevlin, MN and his paternal grandparents, George H. and Ora Brock of Hackensack, MN.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church in Eau Claire with the Rev. Keith Aurand of Altoona United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 6 at the Fuller-Speckien Funeral Home in Eau Claire as well as one hour prior to the time of services at the church. Entombment will follow the service at the Chapel of the Resurrection Mausoleum in the Town of Washington. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Altoona Youth Hockey Association.
