Clyde William Brown, age 87, of Eau Claire, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2006 at the Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire.
He was born in Eau Claire on January 30, 1919 to George and Amy (Anderson) Brown. He grew up and attended school in Eau Claire. In 1941, he married Lucille M.
Knaack. They celebrated nearly 65 beautiful years together.
“Bub”, as he was affectionately called by his family, was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army and fought in the following battles and campaigns: Sicilian, Naples
Foggia, Rome Arno, North Apennines, and the Po Valley. He received the following decorations and citations: European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Four Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal, and the Silver Battle Star for Bravery. Upon his completion of duty, he had earned the rank of Master Sergeant in Troop A, 91st Reconnaissance Squadron, 5th Army. |
Clyde was a hard worker and is best known for his 39 years of service at Uniroyal Tire Company. During that time, he advanced to Divisional Superintendent. At the time of retirement, Clyde and Lucille moved to their new home on Big Round Lake in Hayward. Four years ago, they returned to live in Eau Claire.
Clyde was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire; Lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars; Eau Claire Post #305; past member of Uniroyal Toastmasters; past member of PBO Elks; and past member of Loyal Order of Moose.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille; his son, Donald (Marjorie) Brown; his daughter, Rogene (James) Beyreis; his grandchildren, Lisa (Joseph) Anderson, Daniel (Jennifer) Brown, Angela (Kevin) Ashley, Randall (Erica) Beyreis, Thomas (Kelly) Beyreis; his great-grandchildren, Ryan and Andrea Anderson, Brandy and Maia Brown, Justin and Jenna Ashley, Christian and Olivia Beyreis; his sister, Betty Lou Bauer; his sisters-in-law, Irene Brown, Vera Stultz Krajewski and Geri Thiede; nieces and nephews, Ronald (Helen) Martin, Curt (Diana) Bauer, Rich (Jennie) Stultz, Jackie (Dave) Udell, David (Joanne) Knaack, Donald (Sue) Knaack, Gerald (Ann) Knaack, Randy (Rita) Knaack, Donita (Phil) Follen, Diane (Bob) Wuethrich and Janet Polhamus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles; and his sister, Mildred Martin Kriese.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire with the Rev. Mary Jorgensen officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Gardens, town of Washington, where military honors will be conducted.
Friends may call on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the church. Memorials in Clyde’s name may be directed to the Building on the Firm Foundation Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church.
