With his brothers and father, he started Bushendorf Transfer in 1940 and managed the company until 1976.
During his life, he had many community interests; he was an assistant chief of the Union Township Fire Department; he coached the Flying Eagles Ski Club and helped organize tournaments, even hauling snow when needed. He belonged to the American Legion Post 53 and the 40 et 8. He carried the colors for those organizations in many parades, using the 1940 pickup that he carefully restored.
Lawrence enjoyed staying active by golfing and bowling. He also worked on many projects in his shops, creating useful items, as well as restoring old trucks.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor of Altoona; three daughters, Judith MacKove of Newton, Kay (Michael) Bartz of Jim Falls, Cheryl (Ken) Ziebell of Eau Claire; a son, James Bushendorf of Eau Claire; two granddaughters, Stephanie (Joel) Peterson of Altoona, Allison (John) Ziebell-Bast of Eau Claire; a great-granddaughter, Paige Market; special family friend, Betsy (Lorne) Noll of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Carol Bushendorf, Verna Hullberg; two brothers, Everett and Harold; and a son-in-law, Jerry MacKove.
