Roady Finn Carroll, 89, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin died Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, Wisconsin surrounded by his family.
 
He was born April 21, 1917 in Durand, Wisconsin the son of Thomas and Emma Carroll. He worked on the Otto and Clara Gessner farm where he met their daughter, Irene. Roady and Irene were married May 29, 1939 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. 
 
In 1942 to 1943, Roady helped build the Alaskan Highway (Alcan Hwy). He was an active member of the Eau Claire County Democratic Party and served as a chairman. He was actively involved in the AFL-CIO Union at UniRoyal (Gillette Rubber Company) where he was employed from 1945 to 1976. He participated in the founding of the Royal Credit Union and was a charter member. In addition, he was involved in numerous State, County and local committees and organizations. Roady and Irene together with their children operated a "Truck Farm" for over 30 years growing, cultivating, harvesting and selling produce on County T in Eau Claire County. Together with Irene he enjoyed the outdoors including deer hunting, bird watching and picking wild berries. He was a proud father of 13 children. 

 
He is survived by his 10 daughters: Sharon Jaenke, Eau Claire; Barbara McKerracher, Russell, Ontario, Canada; Rhoda Phillips (Keith), Cleghorn, WI; Donna Kahl (Howie Hanson), Pickerel, WI; Darlene Furrer (Robert), Eau Claire; Marilyn Kubista, Eau Claire; Rita Hehl (Lyell), Eau Claire; Bernida Fouts, Mountain View, WY; Yvonne Cox (Douglas), Albuquerque, NM; and Cynthia Miller (Steven), Shawano, WI; and 2 sons: Thomas, Eau Claire and John (Linda), Rockford, IL; 38 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren; one brother, John, and many nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Irene; one daughter, Janice; 5 sisters: Irene Lee, A. Bernida Carroll, Catherine Fjelstad, Elizabeth Jacobs, Genevieve Fering; 2 brothers: Robert and Richard.
 
Please join his family for the celebration of Roady's life at 12:00 noon on Monday, November 6, 2006 with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. James The Greater Catholic Church with Father John Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home where a 7:00 p.m. prayer service will be held. Friends may also call at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service.
