Rosa M. Abley

Rosa M. Abley, age 85, of Eau Claire passed away January 7, 2007 at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Rosa was born on July 9, 1921 in St Paul, Minnesota the daughter of Edward and Ursula (Wieland) Ausderau. She moved with her family to Colfax where she attended high school graduating as salutatorian in 1939. Rosa furthered her education by attending the Wisconsin State Teachers College graduating in 1941.

Rosa was an elementary school teacher for eight years ending her career in Durand in 1949. She married Werner Abley on June 11, 1949. Together, they purchased the family farm in the Town of Wheaton retiring in 1984. Upon retirement, they moved to Eau Claire where Rosa enjoyed her hobbies, gems and minerals, genealogy, gardening, and traveling. Rosa was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church where she served as president of the Ladies aid.

She is survived by her husband, Werner; two sons, Paul (Diane) of Douglasville, GA and Mark (Cathryn) of Eau Claire; two daughters, Marie (Ron) Ford of Chippewa Falls and Jeanne (Jim) of West Melbourne, Fl; one brother Edward (Dolores) of Whitehall; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Rosa was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

A son, James and her parents preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2007 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 3715 London Rd, Eau Claire, WI with Pastor Frederick Theiste officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, WI on Thursday from 4-7 pm and on Friday morning at the church from 10 am until the time of services.
