On Sunday, July 15th, 2007, after a courageous eight month battle with lung cancer, David John Beck left this world and traveled to the place prepared for him by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (John 14:2).

David is dearly missed by Judy, his wife of 45 years, and by his three daughters and their families: John and Jeanne Lutz (Ellie, Beth, Abbie, Olivia); Patrick and Jill O'Hara (Annie, Joey); and Todd and Jackie Weiss (Logan, Sawyer, Lyla). Also by his siblings: Eddie, Diana, and Rose. He is even now enjoying a warm reunion with his parents (Stanley and Magdeline Beczkiewicz of Cudahy), Judy's parents (Gordon and Velda Thur of Fairchild), and his granddaughters Emma Lutz and Sadie Weiss.

David was born February, 16, 1936. He grew up in Cudahy, WI. He served his country in Korea with the 8th US Army Honor Guard. Early in his life he spent many years employed in the grocery store business. He also worked at Allis Chalmers and in 1987 began his career with the Eau Claire School District custodial staff until his retirement in 2000. David cherished the eight years he served as head custodian at Putnam Heights Elementary where the students and staff became like a second family to him. After his retirement, he loved the hours he spent at the Feed My People Food Bank working as the warehouse manager. He also enjoyed spending time with school district and church friends and was committed to studying the Bible personally and with friends. In recent days, the following verse was especially meaningful to him: Psalm 121:2 - "My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth."

Judy and the family would like to thank their many friends and extended family for all of their support and prayers during this difficult time. We truly experienced supernatural strength and peace that can only come from the Lord. Your prayers were answered.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 18, from 5-7 PM at Fuller-Speckien Funeral Home in Eau Claire. A joyful celebration of David's life and salvation will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 19, at Bethesda Lutheran Church, with Pastors Rodney Venberg and Paul Larson officiating (Viewing at 10:30 AM).

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to one of David's favorite charities: The missionary families at Bethesda Lutheran (Venbergs & Weibes) or the Feed My People Food Bank.
