Gerald Francis Breitzman, age 82 of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, September 05, 2007 after a lengthy, courageous battle with primary lateral sclerosis. 
 

Gerald was born on January 10, 1925 to Frank and Genevieve (Cramer) Breitzman in Menomonie, Wisconsin. He was raised in Menomonie attending Menomonie schools. Gerald served in the United States Army from June 1943 to April 1946. Of the 34 months enlisted, he spent 20 months stationed in France.

 
In January 1950, Gerald graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. On October 31, 1959 he married his wife, Diane Ayers. Following his graduation from the University he was employed by Wisconsin Department of Revenue retiring in January of 1987. Gerald loved the outdoors; all the animals, especially little white puppies. He was a member of the American Legion.
 
   Gerald is survived by his wife, Diane (Eau Claire); sons, Jim (Julie) Breitzman (Columbus, WI) and Paul Breitzman (Eau Claire); daughter, Julie Breitzman (Steve Sweeney) (Menomonie); two grandchildren, Stephanie and Alexandra; brother, Eugene (Ardy) Breitzman (Wausau); nephews, Don Breitzman (Menomonie) and Bob Breitzman (LaCrosse); nieces, Deb Sidd (Bloomington, MN) and Patty Hiebl (Wausau).
 
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Don and Richard Breitzman.
 
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 10, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Eugene Klink officiating. Friends and family may call at church from 12:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
  
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of 4Th Floor Neuroscience Trauma Center at Luther Midelfort Clinic as well as the staff at Northwestern Home Care.
