Joyce H. Brenizer, age 83, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Dove Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Eau Claire, from complications due to Parkinson's Disease. She was married for 58 years to Melvin R. Brenizer who preceded her in death.
 
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday July 18, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd., Eau Claire. Pastor Mary Jorgensen will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Rd. Eau Claire, on Tuesday evening from 4-8 pm and on Wednesday morning at the church from 10 am until the time of services. 
 

She was born in Grantsburg, WI on February 20, 1924. She was one of nine children born to Swedish immigrants. She was preceded in death by seven of her brothers and sisters: Bernice, Ida, Bill, Herbert, Roy, Harold, and Erwin. Surviving her is her sister Eleanor who resides in Madison.
 
Joyce graduated from Grantsburg High School and after high school married Melvin. They farmed his father's farm until they moved to Colfax, WI where they jointly owned a grocery and hardware store with her husband's sister and her husband. They later sold the business.
 
In 1958 the Brenizer family was a victim of the Colfax tornado and relocated to Eau Claire where she began a career in retail. She worked in fashion in Montgomery Ward and later moved to Vanderbie Jewelry where she moved to a management role for more than 25 years.
 
She was an avid writer and published poet. Her work was published in the Anthology of American Poetry. She was also an avid gardener and loved to travel. She and her late husband were members of Trinity Lutheran Church and were members of the Moose Lodge 1408. She spent more than 35 years in retailing and was an expert in diamonds. She loved merchandising and the retailing side of the jewelry business, which was the hallmark of her professional career.
 
She loved entertaining her friends and family and was a gracious hostess whose love of Christmas was legendary and was passed on to her children and grandchildren. Holiday parties were legendary and not to be missed.
 
Joyce was survived by three children: Michael (Sharon) of Altoona, Brenda (Tom) of Farmington Hills, MI, and Jerry of Lake Geneva, three grandchildren, Gary Brenizer (Betsy), of Eau Claire, Lynda Seymour of Eau Claire and Jennifer Schneider (Dan Assenmacher) of Chesapeake, Virginia, nine great grandchildren, Stephanie, Tyler, Mikayla, and Madeline Seymour, Max, Benjamin, Samuel, Anne and Libby Brenizer, all of Eau Claire.
