Hermanda Carlson, 85, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin died on February 10, 2007.
Hermanda (Hermie) was born on August 8, 1921 in Nashua, MN, the only child of Herman and Clara
Hasse. Her father died ten days before her birth. Three years later, her mother remarried Paul Kath of
Tenney, MN.
Hermie attended grade school in Tenney, MN and high school in Campbell, MN. She finished a two year course in office practice at the State School of Science,
Wapheton, ND. She worked briefly at the bank in Hazelton, ND and then moved to San
Bernadina, CA where she worked at the Air Depot in the investigation section for several years.

In 1943, Hermie enlisted in the US Marine Corps where she took basic training at Camp Lejune, NC. She was assigned to Washington, D.C., where she worked at the Navy Annex in the Audit Dept. for nine months. She volunteered to duty in Hawaii where she worked in Paymaster. In 1946 she was given an Honorable Discharge. She returned to Minnesota where she enrolled at the University of Minnesota and graduated with BA degree in English composition.
On June 11, 1949, she married Glenn A. Carlson. They moved to Neillsville, WI where she worked at Rychnovsky Brothers garage and the Clark County Court House in the Treasurer's office.
In 1951 Glenn and Hermie moved to Lake Eau Claire out of Augusta, WI. She worked at Augusta Auto in Augusta for several years and then at the State Bank of Fall Creek for 24 years as an Internal Auditor.
After retiring, Hermie volunteered for nine years at Northwest Wisconsin Home Care and then at Luther Hospital as a part of Step Force, a most rewarding experience. Ill health forced her to retire from her volunteer duties.
Hermanda was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, and several aunts and uncles.
She leaves behind her husband, Glenn, her friend and caretaker, Anne Gillette, her best buddy, Barbara Berquist, and many friends and relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home. The Reverend Eugene Glade will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home one-half hour prior to services.
