Ellis "Elly" W. Christianson, 76, of Eau Claire passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 18, 2007, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
 

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday October 23, 2007 at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grand Ave, Eau Claire, WI with lunch being served immediately following the service. Pastor Rolf Nestingen will officiate. Graveside services will take place Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington. American Legion Post #53 will provide military honors. Friends may call at Grace Lutheran Church on Monday evening from 4-8 pm. Masonic services conducted by the George B. Wheeler Lodge #351 will take place at 7:30 pm Monday evening in the Grace Lutheran Church Chapel to conclude the visitation. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning at the church from 10 am until the time of services. 

    
Elly was born on January 22, 1931, in Eau Claire to John and Mary (Schwalbe) Christianson. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1950 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon honorable discharge in 1953 he enrolled in Wisconsin State College at Eau Claire, graduating in 1957.
 
He married IvaDelle (Ivy) Wagnild on April 30, 1955 at Elk Mound Lutheran Church. Elly taught high school mathematics for several years before becoming an industrial engineer at Uniroyal, where he worked for 27 years until his retirement in 1991. After his retirement he gave tours at the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp.
 
Elly was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge. He became active in Scouting when his children entered Cub Scouts and remained active throughout his life. He served as a Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Golden Eagle District Commissioner, and Order of the Arrow Lodge Advisor. His scouting awards include the District Award of Merit, Vigil Honor, Silver Beaver, and was the first local recipient of the Order of the Arrow Founders Award in 1982.
 
Elly was a very loving husband and father and will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 52 years, Ivy, and sons Eric (Barb) of Pewaukee, Marc (Deb) of Onalaska, Alec (Vicki) of Chippewa Falls, Linc (Maryann) of Perrysburg, OH, and daughter Jodi (Tom) Buchholz of Eau Claire. He is survived by one sister, Virginia Hansen of Eau Claire and nine beloved grandchildren (Brian (Tami), Tessa (Tim) Burns, Karyn, Ben, Andra, Jacob, Steven Buchholz, Kevin, and John), two great-grandchildren (Carter and Alex), and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, sisters Barbara and Joann, and his brother Floyd preceded him in death.
