Maybelle (Henderson) Hanson, 92, died January 13, 2007 at the Main Street Quarters assisted living home in Oregon, Wisconsin. 
 
Maybelle was born Nov. 21, 1914 to William and Mabel Henderson in Montreal, Canada. She graduated from Central High School, St. Paul, MN in 1933 and from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, in 1937. She taught speech and English at the Menomonie High School, Menomonie, WI. She married Ernest T.C. Hanson, lawyer, and later Eau Claire County Family Court Commissioner, in St. Paul in 1938. He predeceased her in 1984.

 
Maybelle taught in the Eau Claire school system and at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire as a substitute English-speech teacher. She was a Past President of the Eau Claire Woman's Club, served on the Eau Claire Library Board for eight years, and was a sixty-year plus member of the First Congregational Church UCC, Eau Claire. As "Miss May" she read stories to children on "Tales for Tots" at the former radio station WRFW from 1951-54. She loved books and reviewed them for various Eau Claire organizations over a period of many years.
 
She is survived by two sons, Mark Richard (Jean), Oregon, WI and Jerrold Stephen (Mary), Dousman, WI; five grandchildren, Scott, Michael, Jaime, Laura and Justin Hanson; and four great grandchildren.
 
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the First Congregational Church on Saturday, January 20, 2007 with visitation at 11:00 and the service beginning at noon. Rev. Dr. Mark X. Pirazzini will officiate.
 
Private graveside services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery.
 
The family requests that memorials be given to the First Congregational Church, The Eau Claire County Humane Society, or any organization of choice.
