Sheryl Jean Langworthy, age 57, died peacefully on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at the Clairemont in Eau Claire, surrounded by her family.

She was born on October 19, 1949 in Mondovi, Wisconsin to Earl and Neva Langworthy. Sheryl was cognitively disabled and was able to live at home with her parents for most of her life. Health concerns necessitated a move in December 2003 to Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. In June 2006 Sheryl moved to a group home in Lake Hallie where she was lovingly cared for by the staff of Aurora Community Services.

For most of her life Sheryl enjoyed life's simple pleasures - eating out, frequent trips to Eau Claire for shopping, and many happy family gatherings. Going to church was a high priority for Sheryl. She loved listening to the music, praying, attending church potlucks, and being part of the United Methodist Women's gatherings. The Mondovi United Methodist church was her second home where the congregation welcomed her and embraced her special needs. Sheryl also spent many happy hours at the family cabin on Lake Eau Claire near Augusta. She had a hammock there that she loved to lie in to enjoy the outdoors. She went for pontoon rides, floated on her air mattress in the lake water, and picnicked with her family. Christmas was also a highlight for Sheryl. The twinkling lights and all the special decorations gave her great joy. She loved opening presents, not so much for the gift, but for the joy of the unwrapping. Dear Sheryl, our "Sheri Jean", you will be greatly missed.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her grandparents, and her father, Earl Langworthy. She is survived by her mother, Neva Langworthy, one brother Kevin (Kris) Langworthy, one sister, Jill (Al) Weisenbeck, and three nieces, Laura Weisenbeck (fiancé Matt Dragseth), Sara Weisenbeck, and Lucy Weisenbeck.
