Sadly, Sidney William Larsen passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire at the age of 81 years.
 
Memorial services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, December 7, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church, 2112 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, WI. Pastor Eric Nielsen will officiate. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN at a later date. 
 
Friends may call at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, WI on Thursday evening from 5-8 pm and on Friday morning at the church from 10 am until the time of services.

 
Sidney was born May 26, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Carl and Albertina (Larsson) Larsen. He was a graduate of Calumet High School, Chicago, and Beloit College, WI, Class of 1950. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
  

   Sidney served his country as a member of the 102nd Army Infantry Division during World War II as an air-cooled machine gun operator. He saw action in Belgium and Germany, and he was honorably discharged in 1946.
 
Sidney married Joan Eckstrom in Chicago on April 26, 1952. He was a Sales Representative for Johnson and Johnson for several years in La Crosse and Minneapolis. In 1966, he joined Al Robertson as a partner in A.J. Robertson Company as Vice President and Sales Manager. Sidney retired in 1987.
 
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Elks Club, where he enjoyed playing with a group of poker players. He was also part of a pinochle group at the Senior Center. He loved to play any kind of cards and was a real competitor. After he retired, he and Joan enjoyed traveling. He highly endorsed Elderhostels. He enjoyed driving for area car dealers and was also a big sports fan- any kind of sports. He was a proud "Grampa" and enjoyed all of his grandchildren's activities.
 
Sidney is survived by his loving wife Joan, daughter Judy and son-in-law Larry Cody of Coon Rapids, MN, granddaughters Alyssa (Jethro) Klotz of Mahtomedi, MN and Amanda Cody of Washington, D.C., son Jim and daughter-in-law Beth Larsen and grandsons Joel and Andrew of Parkersburg, WV. His parents and his brother Carl preceded him in death.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Sidney's name to First Presbyterian Church or the Luther Midelfort Neuro Science Dept.
