Eugene F. McCaghy (Gene), 88, of Altoona,
passed away on Monday, January 15, 2007, at
Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. He was born
August 15, 1918, in Eau Claire, to Elmer and
Anna (Soha) McCaghy, and graduated from St.
Patrick's High School and Eau Claire Teacher's
College. He taught high school in Hannibal, WI
and Onalaska, WI, and then served in the U.S.
Navy from 1944 to 1946. He retired as Vice
President, Purchasing and Planning, for
National Presto Industries after 36 years of
employment.
Gene was a member of Immaculate Conception
Church since 1946, a Charter Member of Former
Catholic War Veterans, and for many years was
a member of the Board of Directors, L.E.
Phillips Career Development Center. He was
also a lifetime member of VFW, a member of
Golden Kiwanis, and served on the Board of
Altoona Police and Fire Commission.

Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Elizabeth (Lambert) McCaghy; children, Larry (Faith) McCaghy of Lakeville, MN, Judith (Robert) Gamache of Osseo, WI, Richard (Betty) McCaghy of Elk Rapids, MI, and Jeanne McCaghy of Woodbury, MN; brother, Charles (Dawn) McCaghy of Bowling Green, OH; 14 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 19, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Eugene Klink officiating. Entombment will be in Chapel of the Resurrection Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., where a 6:00 p.m. prayer service will be held. Friends may also call at the church on Friday one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to Immaculate Conception Church, St. Bede Monastery or a charity of the donor's choice.
