Douglas Gene Mueller, 53, of Fall Creek passed
away early Friday morning December 7, 2007 at his
home under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice after
battling cancer for just over a year. He was born
to Kenneth and Kathleen (Benson) Mueller on August
9, 1954. He attended Memorial High School,
graduating in 1972. In 1980, he married Jane
Gearan of Eau Claire.
Raised on the family farm near Brackett, Doug loved farming and worked along side his father until Ken died. The farm recently celebrated 100 years in the family. Doug believed strongly in his faith and his church, which were central to his life. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in
Cleghorn, having just finished serving as their congregation president. He attended CVTC for many years, graduating in their Farm Training Program, which he continued to participate in the graduate winter classes for over 25 years. Doug was known as a successful farmer that always found time for his community. His many awards included Conservation Farmer of the Year (NW District), 2007 Master Agriculturist, Eau Claire County Service to Agriculture Award and Wisconsin Farm Bureau Distinguished Service to Farm Bureau (presented on Dec. 3) to name a few. Doug and Jane served on several boards and were active in 4-H, FFA Alumni, Farm Bureau and as members of the Wisconsin Rural Leadership Program. Doug went to China to study leadership challenges with WRLP in 2002. In the past eight years, the family hosted a foreign journalist with World Press Institute for a farm family experience. Doug valued his friendships, which were many. His family wishes to thank everyone that showed their love and appreciation for Doug with visits, dinners, cards, phone calls and helping with chores. A special thank you is extended to St. Joseph's Hospice, especially Mary Lee, Marilyn, Diane, and Charlotte. Thank you also to the wonderful care given by Dr. Burns and Laura in the
Luther-Midelfort Oncology Dept.
