Philip Richard Nauss, age 55, of Eau Claire died Thursday, January 18, 2007. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on September 23, 1951 to John and Jeanette
(Schlemeyer) Nauss.
He attended Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Minnesota, graduating in 1969. He also earned a degree in Broadfield Social Studies from UW-Eau Claire in 1983 while simultaneously working full time and starting his family.

Philip worked in radio for over 30 years all over the country as a disc jockey and program manager. He was well known for his powerful voice, which also led to work in television commercials. Philip took great pride in his work for WISM Radio in Eau Claire. He was perhaps best known for the popular morning radio show he hosted under the name Phil Conrad. He also played bass for the classic rock cover band
Stormfront, which performed all over the region and even at Rock Fest. Philip showcased both his abilities as an entertainer and his incredible intelligence when he appeared as a contestant on Jeopardy in 1988.

Philip is survived by two daughters, Rachel of San Francisco, CA and Leah of Newquay, England, a son Jonathan of Eau Claire, his father and step-mother, John and Roberta Nauss of Kerrville, TX, a sister, Barbara Nauss of Eagan, MN, two step-brothers, Grant Ruegnitz of Menomonie and Max Ruegnitz of Eau Claire, a step-sister, Stephanie Macy of Ft. Worth, TX, a niece and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Nauss, uncle, James E. Nauss, aunt, Louise Nauss-Burmeister and numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home. Pastor Mark Schulz of Peace Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
