David Lee Powell ("Skeets"), age 68, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at 5:28 pm at home in Eau Claire, with his daughter by his side.
 
David was born October 23, 1938, in Eau Claire, to David W. and Dorothy M. (Reidinger) Powell. 
 
   He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1957. He was a member of the National Guard.
 
David married Donna M. Zurek in Eau Claire at Hope Lutheran Church on April 25, 1959.

 
He was employed at Pope Talbot and retired after 32 years. He worked for Chippewa Trails for 5 years after retirement and Eau Claire Transit for 6 years. David was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and the Eagles Aerie 2213 were he was a past president. David served his Country for a brief time in the Army National Guard.
 
David loved the Green Bay Packers, fishing and camping, sports, cribbage, and especially watching his grandsons play ball.
 
David is survived by: his children, Dean Powell, Virginia Beach, VA and Jill (Cory) Phillips, Eau Claire; grandchildren, Brandon Powell and Garett Phillips; mother, Dorothy Powell, Eau Claire; sister, Judy (Lloyd) Siverling, Chippewa Falls.
 
He is preceded in death by: his wife, Donna on May 7, 2004; an infant daughter, Julie; and father, David W. Powell on April 28, 1999.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2007 at Hope Lutheran Church, 2226 Eddy Lane, Eau Claire, WI with Pastor Randy Olson officiating. Friends may call on Sunday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and also on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at a later date in Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington. Family and friends may send condolences online at www.fullerspeckien.com. 
 
The family wishes to thank the Sacred Heart Cancer Center, Dr. Naqvi and nurses Nancy/Michelle, St. Joseph's Hospice, and special thanks to main nurses Charlotte, Karen and to our volunteer Melonie, and Pastor Randy Olson and Hope Lutheran Church. Thank you to the north Shopko pharmacy staff for the compassionate service provided during dad's illness. Last, but not least, thanks so much to family and friends for the love, prayers and support.
