Doris I. Schlewitz, age 85, of Altoona died Sunday Nov. 18, 2007, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
Doris was born Dec. 6, 1921, to Theodore and Gena
(Delsrude) Sundem in Colfax. Doris married her husband, Louie
Schlewitz, in 1943.
She worked at Sacred Heart Hospital for many years as a seamstress. Her many duties included tailoring Father Klimik's suit coats, hemming and sewing clothing for the Sisters, mending blankets and curtains, as well as trimming and decorating the hospital during the holidays.
Doris had many hobbies including crocheting, knitting, and making many afghans. She cherished the companionship shared with her many friends at Golden Acres II.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Marlys (Jerry) Blodgett of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Chuck (Julie) Garnett of Mondovi, Kimberly (David) Johnson of Eau Claire, Kelly Bungartz and Kris (Pat) Niles of Appleton; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louie; daughter, Pearl (Norm) Schmidt; son, Larry Schlewitz; great-grandson, Tommy Garnett; sister, Gladys Gotlibson; and brother, Leonard Sundem.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at Golden Acres II Apartments, 138 10th St. West, Altoona, with Pastor Jeff Lambrecht officiating. Friends may call at Golden Acres II one hour prior to services on Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Colfax.
