Devin Allan Severson, age 41, of Eau Claire passed away Saturday, April 21st at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous six-year battle with cancer.
 

Devin was born on September 3, 1965, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, the son of Dean and Delores (Strande) Severson. He attended the Black River Falls public schools and graduated in 1984. After high school Devin first attended the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse before transferring to the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire, where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1988. Devin began his career with RCU in Eau Claire and was employed there for 16 years.
 
Devin married Susan Kay Madson on October 27, 1990, at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, and they resided in Eau Claire thereafter. 

 
Devin was a devoted father and husband who enjoyed spending time with all of his family and friends. He also enjoyed many sports, weight lifting, hunting and out door activities. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and was very active in volunteer service including teaching Sunday school, confirmation small-group leadership, and Community Table service team participation. In addition, Devin was serving on the Eau Claire United Cerebral Palsy board of directors. 
 
He is survived by his wife Susan and son Kyle; parents Dean and Delores (Strande) Severson, Black River Falls, WI; brother Dennis, Minneapolis, MN; sister Dena (John) Bahnub, Black River Falls, WI; mother and father in-laws, Gary and Sharon (Seitz) Birkenmeier, Eau Claire, WI; J Peter and Susan (Anderson) Madson, Naperville, IL; brother and sister in-laws, Akira and Mary (Madson) Hangai, Sunnyvale, CA; Craig and Molly (Kelly) Madson, New Hope, MN; Brian and Jackie (Beckhorn) Madson, Eielson AFB, AK. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
 
Devin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvin and Hazel (Johnson) Severson and Oscar and Florence (Douglas) Strande.
 
Services will be held on Thursday, April 26th, at Peace Lutheran Church, 501 E Fillmore Ave, Eau Claire, WI at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Schulz officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25th at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Trempealeau Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery in Blair, WI at 2:30 pm.
 
Devin's unwavering Christian faith and positive attitude during his illness was an inspiration to many people. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank everyone for all of their wonderful care, concerns, prayers and support for all of them during his extended illness.
