Elmer H. Zimmerman, 91, of Eau Claire, died Friday, December 07, 2007 at Luther Hospital.
 
Elmer was born February 18, 1916 in Eau Claire to Fred and Bertha (Moss) Zimmerman, one of three children. On July 2, 1939 he married Hazel Boernke at St. John's Church in rural Fall Creek. They celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary in 1990. He attended Eau Claire Senior High School and graduated with the class of 1934. After high school, Elmer went to work as a chauffeur at the Erskine Ingram estate in Eau Claire. He then worked at Epiphany Lutheran School as a custodian for one year. From there he worked at UWEC as grounds keeper for 16 years.

 
Elmer enjoyed life with family and friends. He liked fishing, playing cards, going to the cabin at Long Lake and taking care of his lawn. Elmer and his wife were members of Epiphany Lutheran Church for over 60 years. He was a member of the EC Pistol Club for many years and he also had a big pen collection.
 
Survivors include his wife, Hazel of Altoona; daughter, Ruth (Jack) Campbell of Eau Claire; 3 grandchildren: Shannon (Greg) Jones, Jennifer (Al) Campbell and Randy (Susan)Campbell; 8 great-grandchildren: Jarred, Jordan and Jasmine Jones, Lukas and Cooper Campbell, and Elizabeth, Jack and Isabelle Campbell; step brother, Vernon Zimmerman of Eau Claire; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Elmer is preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Lloyd and Harry; and step sister, Iris Melland.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, at Epiphany Lutheran Church with Pastor Kampfer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington.
 
Elmer's family would like to thank Northwest Wisconsin Homecare for the wonderful care and Dr. Steven Weiss and his staff, and Luther Hospital, unit 3100.
 
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Epiphany Lutheran School or donor's choice.
