Bernice Grace Ackerman, 89, Eau Claire passed forward to the lord on Tuesday July 8, 2008. Bernice was a life member at Grace Lutheran Church. She graduated from Eau Claire High School.
 
Bernice was born in the town of Hallie on July 23, 1918, the daughter of Andrew and Charlotte (Cook) Duerkop. Bernice married Frank Ackerman Jr. in Chippewa Falls, WI on August 17th, 1937. 
 
Bernice was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, & Great-Grandmother. Bernice volunteered for many years at Grace Lutheran Church. She was a volunteer and subject matter expert at the Eau Claire Paul Bunyan Camp, one room school house for many years. Bernice volunteered many years as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts of America. She was also a member of Royal Neighbors of America, and the Genealogy Society.
 

    
Bernice loved traveling throughout the United States & Canada with her family. One of her most exciting trips was traveling to Newfoundland, Canada to visit her son and his family. She loved flowers, and children of all ages. Bernice always made time for her loved ones. She gave a piece of her heart to all of her children & Grandchildren which will stay with them forever. She was a wonderful cook and was always willing to share her bounty with others.
 
Survivors include Daughters: Betty (Ron) Johnson, Joan (Richard) Halvorson, Altoona; Sons Frank (Pearl) Ackerman of Myrtle Beach, SC, William Ackerman Hammond, MN, Mark (Amber) Ackerman, & Chris (Jamie) Ackerman of Eau Claire.
 
Two Sister-in-laws: Mary (Dean) Duerkop of Altoona; Betty (Lawrence) Duerkop of Strum. 13 Grandchildren; Karissa, Kelsey, Chloe, Harry, Tracy, Troy, & Peter (Chantele) Ackerman; Scott & Sindy Halvorson, Sherry (David) Hodges, Heidi (Rudy) Hrudka; Jeff, Jay (Gennifer) Johnson. 8 Great-Grand Children; and other relatives and friends.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband: Frank Jr.; 6 brothers: Russell, Cletus, Lyman, Lyle, Deane & Lawrence.
 
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 15 at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, with Pastor David Irgens officiating. Friends and Family may call one hour before the services at the church. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. at Prairie View Cemetery in the Town of Hallie.
