Dear Bachman Family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Nancy at Pedersen Elementary until the spring of 2006. She was always so kind. We would have a quick visit in the hall or our classrooms to catch up and share our life happenings. We both shared a strong love for our dogs. That is one topic we could go on and on about. Mr. & Mrs. Bachman, I am a substitute teacher at Altoona. My mother is a breast cancer fighter. I recently walked 60 miles in the Breast Cancer 3 Day in the Cities. It is a fundraiser which raised over 7 million dollars for breast cancer research. I proudly wore Nancy's name on the back of my shirt. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Bachman, Words alone can't express our sympathy to you. Nancy was an incredible person in our lives. She made learning fun for our daughter Allyson and encouraged her to do her best. Her praises made her to be a very confident person. She also made my youngest, Emily feel right at home in her classroom when we were there together, always complimenting her. She was so strong and positive that we were all truly blessed to have had that time with her. While working with her she tought me so much about having compassion for other people and to always find the good in everyone. I belive that is what made her such an outstanding teacher. I remember sitting with her at conferences telling her this and she always bounced the compliment back at me until I finally told her to accept the compliment with a "thank you" which she did with a smile. I am writing this to you to let you know that with your guidence through her life and the precence of God you have raised her up to make a difference in so many lives. My name is Cari O'Connell and I worked as a student teacher at Pedersen Elementary from early April to early June of this year. Although I did not work with Nancy, but with a 4th grade teacher, I did come to know her from visits we would have when we would see one another around the school. I must say, of all the staff members that I met while at that school, Ms. Bachman truly stood out with her very friendly, always sunny disposition. Despite what I knew she must have been going through with her body, she never showed any worries on the outside. She was always simply a dear and beautiful person, and over the summer & fall since I worked at Pedersen and had met her, I never forgot her. I would think of her from time to time, and hope that she was doing okay, even thinking of maybe contacting her sometime, but I never did. It was when I substitute taught yesterday in the 3rd grade at Pedersen that I found out of Nancy's passing. While I was very sad to hear the sad news, I also must say that from the very little I knew of Nancy & the wonderful heart she possessed, I know that she is now without a doubt a beautiful and sunny angel in heaven, to bestow light on all.
