Willard John "Bill" Best, age 88, of Elk Mound passed away October 27, 2008 at Care Partners in Eau Claire.
He was born March 15, 1920 to George and Rebecca (Garnett) Best in the town of Washington. In his teens, he worked on several different farms in the Brunswick area. After marrying Lucy
Fedie, he then went to work at Drummonds Packing Company in Eau Claire. After starting a family, he decided to go into dairy farming in rural Elk Mound. He also drove truck for Bennett's Trucking in Eau Claire. He then worked 17 years to retirement at Eau Claire Farm Supply Feed Mill. Bill began retirement at age 63. He enjoyed reading and mowing lawn with his John Deere. |

Willard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lucy; two sons, Robert (Donna) Best and LaVerne Best, both of Elk Mound; two daughters, Janet (Joseph) Yarolimek of Eau Claire and Ruth (Robert) Brendsel of Elk Mound; grandchildren, Dawn Best of Eau Claire, Rob (Danielle)Best, Tamie (Dave) Maier, Joanne (Mike) Lane, Becky (Gene) Schuh and Ann (Larry ) Lemler, all of Elk Mound; great grandchildren, Trevor, Amber, Best, Anton, Logan, and Kenny Schuh, Daniel Kransky, Allen Best, Tony, Hunter and Keagen Lemler, Lindsay Johnson, and Kristi, Shawn and Teresa Lane; and brother, Ervin (Judy) Best.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, George; 1 sister Rena; 2 granddaughters, Patricia Best and Theresa Best; 2 great-grandsons, Dakota Brummond and Brady Lemler.
Funeral services for Bill will be on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire. Burial will be at Spring Brook Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Spring Brook, Wisconsin. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services on Thursday.
