Thomas R. Ertz, age 51, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, August 23, 2008, in Eau Claire. Tom was a very quiet, kind, gentle person who kept most of his philosophies on life to himself. He shared with others his beautiful wood creations, friendships and faithfulness. His favorite retreat in life was being close to nature.
Tom was born in Lancaster, Wisconsin on November 30, 1956. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1975. He graduated from MATC in 1989 with a degree in mechanical design.
He married Kathy Eggman on February 28, 1987. They moved from their home in Madison to Eau Claire in 1995. He enjoyed his job at Chilson Motors where he worked with and met many fine people. |

Tom is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Emily (fiancée Tony Califf) and a beautiful new grandson Karson. He is also survived by his parents, Albert and Phyllis Ertz (Bloomington), Roger Ertz (Rochester, MN) Dennis Ertz (Baraboo), Barb (Roger) Ploessl (Bloomington), Bev (Lenny) Kittoe (Baraboo), Randy (Brenda) Ertz (Bloomington) and many wonderful nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-laws, James and Christine O'Donnell, Chris and Jody Becker, and their children.
Services for Thomas will be on Thursday, August 28, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Raymond's Catholic Church. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road and again one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Private family burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
