   Irene Shiffer Franzmann, 92, of Eau Claire died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Dove Healthcare. Irene was born April 7, 1916 to Orrie and Hazel (Spalding) Shiffer. She grew up on Truax Prairie, attending the Truax school for 8 years. Following graduation from Eau Claire High School she joined Northern States Power Company in the Merchandise Sales Department and worked herself up to Assistant Corporate Secretary, retiring after 50 years of service.
 
Irene was a life-long member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Elk Mound, where she sang in the choir, was church treasurer and was Sunday School Superintendent in the Primary Department.
   

She and her sister enjoyed traveling together for many years. Together they took care of their mother until she passed away at the age of 103.
 
On August 15, 2001 she married Donald R. Franzmann in Mesa, Arizona. H. Myron Braun, retired Methodist minister and friend of the Shiffers, performed the ceremony. Irene and Don enjoyed traveling especially going on cruises.
 
Irene is survived by her sister, Cora Ruth Shiffer, three nephews, Dale (Barbara) Shiffer, Eau Claire, Loyd (Kathy) Shiffer, Roanoke, VA, and Ray (Barbara) Shiffer, Oneida, WI; two nieces, Jean Shiffer, Eau Claire, and Donna (Gregory) Brown, Eau Claire; also by 11 great-nieces and nephews and 15 great-great nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
 
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ralph and sister-in-law, Lorraine; and by her loving husband, Don.
 
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Elk Mound, WI with Rev. Gregory Brown officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
 
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home in Eau Claire and one hour before services at the church.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity United Methodist Church, Elk Mound, WI, World Vision, or a charity of the donor's choice.
