Dear Corky, My sincere sympathy. I want you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you. Annie Ayres, who knew Irene and also knew that Irene and I were friends, emailed me yesterday after she saw the notice in the Eau Claire paper. Using the internet, I found the notice and then came to Fuller-Speckien-Hulke's website. I was pleased to find the complete obituary with the lovely picture of Irene, and have printed it out. I received Donna's email this afternoon. Many thanks to her for that. As you know, Irene was a treasured friend. I will never forget how she took me under her wing when I started working at Northern States, helping me to feel at ease in my new job. That was over 50 years ago, and we kept in touch all this time in spite of the miles between us and the changes in our lives. I am sending a memorial donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society where I volunteered for a number of years. They help feed the poor on Milwaukee's east side. With sympathy to you and your nieces who were so very close to Irene. Love, Peggy

Corky, I am so sorry to hear of Irene's passing. I had hoped to visit the two of you, but I just can't get around on the slippery roads anymore. I planned to come today, but again, the weather is keeping me home. I'm sorry I won't see you at this time. I have so many fond memories of times shared with both of you.
