Eunice A. Gavin, 89, of Eau Claire, died Monday, February 25, 2008, at the Dove Nursing Home.
 
She was born March 25, 1918 in Elk Mound, Wisconsin to Alfred S. and Cora Mae (Blodgett) Peterson. On November 19, 1936, Eunice married Charles D. Gavin, Sr. in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Chuck and Eunice purchased and operated an A & W Root Beer business in Arkansas City, Kansas from 1957 to 1967. She later worked on the Maintenance staff at UWEC for 12 years. Eunice loved sewing, quilting, making dolls, and flower gardening.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and three brothers. Eunice is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo (Ronald) Jackson of Worcester, MA, a son, Charles D. Jr. (Sally) of Altoona, a daughter, Ann Marie (Kenneth) Meunier of Viroqua, WI, a daughter Sue Karol Peterson and her friend, Richard Mullen of Woodbury, MN, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a brother, Jerome D. (Carol) Peterson, of Linden, MI.

 
The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation and gratitude to the staff of the St. John's Apartments of Eau Claire, the staff of the Dove Nursing Home, and to Dr. Steven Weiss for all of their thoughtful care and friendship to Eunice.
 
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1804 Highland Avenue in Eau Claire, where Eunice was a member. Pastor Karen Hofstad will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to services, at the church. The committal will be private at Forest Hill Cemetery.
 
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to consider supporting Bread for the World, The Wisconsin Regional Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired at Milwaukee, WI or St. John's Apartments.
