Gretchen B. Groseth, age 92, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the Chippewa Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chippewa Falls.

Gretchen was born on December 1, 1915 to William and Wilhelmia (Misfeldt) Sherman in Eau Claire. She graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1933. On May 26, 1935, she married Gordon E. Groseth in Eau Claire. They resided in Eau Claire until 1956 when they moved to their home on Lake Wissota. Upon Gordon's death, Gretchen moved into the city of Chippewa Falls to be closer to friends.

She loved to knit, bowl, and golf. Frequently she helped out in service organizations such as the Lady Elks and St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary. She also became involved in teaching ceramics and playing bridge with friends. Traveling was one of her favorite pastimes, especially to visit relatives in Arizona. Holidays were special to her, and she enjoyed decorating for them. She never passed up a chance to go out to eat, and sweets, especially Sees candy, were her favorites.

Survivors include her grandsons, Kit (Donna) Groseth and Jeff Groseth of Phoenix, AZ, and Robert (Deanne) Groseth of Tucson, AZ; great-grandson, Grant William Groseth of Phoenix; and daughter-in-law, Carol Groseth of Tucson, AZ. Her parents, husband Gordon, who passed away in 1991, and a son Gary, who passed away in 1997, preceded her in death.

She will be sadly missed by relatives, friends, and the Gruhlke family.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday December 6, 2008 at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire. Pastor Mark Schulz of Peace Lutheran Church will officiate.
