Mary Hoyt, 63, of Eau Claire, WI died on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Luther Hospital.

Mary was born on May 29, 1944 to Clifford and Gladys Barstad of Eau Claire and graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1962. She married Leland (Tip) Hoyt on November 23, 1963. They have celebrated 44 wonderful years of marriage. Mary first worked for the Eau Claire Treasurer's Office from 1964-1965 before taking time to raise her children. Mary worked in the Eau Claire school district at Delong Junior High, North High School, and Northstar Middle School from 1974-2001 where she touched the lives of hundreds of students and staff. After she retired, Mary and Tip moved to a home on the Mondovi Golf Course where they enjoyed all the golf they wanted. Mary and Tip moved back to Eau Claire in 2006.

Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing golf, making crafts watching sports-especially the Green Bay Packers, and going out to eat with family and friends. In her spare time, Mary wrote her book, Smile! It's only a Mammogram which was illustrated by her granddaughter, Morgan Schultz. She has been a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church where her faith was strengthened and shared to all she knew. Her vibrant, loving personality will be missed.

Mary is survived by her husband, Tip, daughter, Holly (Todd) Schultz of Prior Lake, MN and son Jeff (Lisa) Hoyt of Apple Valley, MN. She is also survived by granddaughters, Kristen, Morgan, and Lara Schultz and grandson, Collin Hoyt. Mary is survived by sisters Joan (Jim) Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, Coryne (Norman) Knutson of Colfax and Connie (Emil) Schulz of Eau Claire, and brother John (Carolyn) Barstad of Eau Claire.
