Jerome "Rosey" Fredrick Johnson, age 71, died of heart failure on April 13, 2008 at his home in Altoona.
 
Jerome was born January 5, 1937 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to George F. and Ruby (Garton) Johnson. He graduated in 1955 from Eau Claire High School and then attended UWEC. He played baseball with the Milwaukee Braves in 1956.
 

   Jerome married Dawn Hardwick from Humbird, WI in 1959. He served in the National Guard from 1954-1964, during the Berlin Crisis in 1961. Jerome worked at Roberts Wholesale for 10 years, then at Uniroyal Tire Co. from 1966 until his retirement in 1992. He was an active member of Altoona United Methodist Church for 44 years where he presently served as the chairman of the council. 
 
Jerome enjoyed being involved with his children's sports and school activities, and watching his grandchildren's games. He loved playing cribbage and cards with his family and grandchildren. Hunting and fishing were a favorite. Jerome was able to deer hunt with every one of his grandsons. He took pride in his family and friends. Jerome enjoyed reminiscing about the good 'ol days and telling jokes.
 
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, George and Ruby Johnson.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Dawn (Hardwick) Johnson, Altoona; brother, Rodney Johnson, Ashland; 4 children: Janet Beaudoin, Sheboygan Falls, Joanne (Paul) Rehberg, Altoona, Jay (Karen) Johnson, Eau Claire, Jeff (Wendy) Johnson, Altoona; 6 grand-children, David (Kelly) Beaudoin, Kenosha, Nicole Johnson, Altoona, Joel and Justin Johnson, Eau Claire, and Nathan and Nic Johnson, Altoona; 3 great-grandchildren, Michael, Emma and Logan Beaudoin, Kenosha; and many other relatives. 
 
 

Services for Jerome will be on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Altoona United Methodist Church, 428 1st Street W., Altoona with the Reverend Keith Aurand officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church on Tuesday, April 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
