| Dorothy J. King, age 82 of Eau Claire, passed away
peacefully Friday, August 15, 2008, at her residence, Heatherwood. |
Dorothy was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on August 10, 1926, the
daughter of Frank and Elsie (Walrabenstein) Trushinski. She
graduated from Nathan Hale High School. On November 6, 1948,
Dorothy married Elsworth "Bud" King and lived in the
Milwaukee area for many years until they moved to Eau Claire in
1986 to be nearer to their children and grandchildren.
Before being a homemaker, she worked as a Spanish translator for Allis Chalmers and as a flight attendant for the airlines. Throughout her life she was an active church member doing volunteer work in prison ministry and family counseling. Later in life she was employed by Bolton Refuge House; first as a volunteer and then as a staff member. |

Dorothy had many passions in life. She enjoyed flying, spending summers in Hayward, collecting dolls, golfing, and music; singing lead parts in her high school operettas, conducting choruses, and playing both the piano and violin. She had a way about her; always being gracious and charming, and above all, well dressed.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Elsworth "Bud" King; children, Kathleen (Douglass) Thomas, James (Jacki) King, Thomas (Holly) King, and Robert (Denise) King; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janet Paynter and Margaret Oakley; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Family will be receiving friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home on Thursday, August 21, 2008. Burial will be at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin.
