David Nicholai McGrath, 64, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at his home in Eau Claire.

David was born January 14, 1944 to James and Violet McGrath. He and his brother, James McGrath, were raised in Eau Claire.

David married Yvonne Aylesworth on October 21, 1972 at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. They welcomed their son James on Sept. 12, 1974, their son, Daniel on July 24, 1977 and their daughter, Melissa on June 9, 1982. David began working for HILTI in 1974 and was dedicated to his job for the following 33 years.

David loved his family and friends. He believed in the honor of working hard and following through on what you say. He also firmly believed in the strength of love and the importance of enjoying life. He often said that HILTI was his work, golf was his pas time, and his family was his passion. He will be especially remembered for his comforting, caring, and fun-loving nature. David was many things to many people, a devoted husband, a loving father, a supportive brother, a fun grandfather, a joke-playing uncle and an inclusive brother and father-in-law. He will be dearly missed. His family and friends will always celebrate David's life and remember how he enriched each of theirs.

David is survived by his wife, Yvonne McGrath; his children, James (Heather) McGrath, Daniel (Atty) McGrath, and Melissa (Jason) Moser; his brother, James McGrath; and his grandchildren, Grace, Gabrielle, Gavin and William.

His father, James in 1972 and his mother, Violet McGrath in 1994, precede him in death.
