Dianne Lynn (Sawall) Mehlberg, age 42 of Eau Claire, passed away on August 21, 2008 at Dove Healthcare, Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Eau Claire after a courageous four year battle with cancer. 
 
Dianne was born to Henry (Butch) and Barbara Sawall of New London on September 27, 1965. She was baptized on September 30, 1965 at Clintonville Community Hospital and confirmed on June 3, 1979 at Trinity Lutheran Church in the town of Bear Creek, Waupaca County, Wisconsin. Growing up, Dianne was a Sunday and Bible school teacher, involved with the junior church choir and secretary of the youth group. She graduated from New London Senior High School in 1983 and attended U.W. of Stevens Point. She married Terry Mehlberg on July 16, 1988 at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville WI. She was employed at L.E. Phillips Career Development Center for the past 20 years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire where she was a Sunday school and confirmation instructor. She was an officer with the Chippewa Valley Youth choir. She was also a Girl Scout Leader. She volunteered and was a mentor at her children's schools. 
 

 
Dianne enjoyed playing 500, gardening and planning the outdoor Halloween trail and party for her children, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
 
Dianne's tenacious desire of life and her tremendous love and commitment to her children are her legacy. She touched the hearts of so many and will be fondly missed.
 
Dianne is survived by her husband, Terry and their children; Caitlin Nicole, Krystin Courtney, Kelly Corinne, Connor Nathan all at home and their family pet dog, Lexi. She is also survived by her parents Henry (Butch) and Barbara (Ebert) Sawall of New London; her sister Karen (Greg) Mehlberg and their daughter Cassie (Baby Cakes) of Marshfield. Dianne thought it was so cool that she and her sister married brothers. She is also survived by in-laws Eugene (Gene) and Helen Mehlberg of Clintonville and their children; Sandra (Sandy) and Dana Dejnowski of Las Cruces, NM; Brian (Julie) Mehlberg and their daughter Erin of Manawa, Daniel (Tami) Mehlberg and their children Corwin and Caretta of New London, and also many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
 
The family would like to express their appreciation to Sacred Heart Hospital and the 8th floor nursing staff, Dr. Delmastro, Dr. Waits, Dove Health Care, and St. Joseph's Hospice for their excellent care; Marshfield Clinic Cancer Center of Eau Claire, Pastor Mark Schulz for his spiritual guidance, and L.E. Phillips Career Development Center for their constant support and generosity. There is also one special "second" sister in her life, Sandy Morley, who supported and loved Dianne through many emotional and trying times.
 
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents William H. and Lulu Ebert and paternal grandparents Henry W. and Ruth Sawall; and her special nephew and godchild Nicholas John Edwin Mehlberg.
 
Funeral Services for Dianne will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2008 at Peace Lutheran Church, 501 E. Fillmore in Eau Claire. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Rd, Eau Claire, WI from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Monday morning at the church. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Dianne's name to the American Cancer Society or Peace Lutheran Church.
