   Richard M. Richardson "Wheels the Clown" age 74 of Altoona passed away Sunday evening April 27, 2008 at the Clairemont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Eau Claire.
 
Richard was born on May 5, 1933 to Richard Sr. and Odelia (Heiland) Richardson in Rice Lake, WI. He graduated from Rice Lake High School. Richard served his country in the US Army.
 
While attending UWEC, Richard participated in all the theatrical and musical productions that were presented. After graduation he, became the first teacher in the Keil, WI public School system, where he wrote the curriculum for grades K through 12. He also taught art, radio and TV at Memorial High School in Eau Claire. He later taught adult art at the Parks and Recreation and at the Senior Center.
 
The love of his life was clowning where he was known as Wheels, Ricco and Kiko. He spent many years performing in the area and across the country. He received many awards in both of his chosen fields of art and clowning. 
 

 
He served as President of the Water Street Merchants, President of the State of Minnesota Clown Association. He appeared on the cover of Wisconsin West Magazine in 1991 and had his picture taken with Art Linkletter.
 
Dick was most proud of his artwork and sculpture at the ST. Bede's Monastery. He spent several years working at the St. Francis Food Pantry where he was happiest helping others. Dick was proud to be a lay Association Member of the Third Order of St. Francis Hospital Sisters. Wheels, You Will be missed by all.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Hospital Chapel. Services will be officiated by Monsignor Edmund Klimek. Committal services will be later that afternoon at 3:30 pm at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Rice Lake. Friends may call at the Sacred Heart Hospital Chapel from 10 am until the time of services.
