Margaret M. Roemer, 85, of Eau Claire, died peacefully on Monday, February 4, 2008 at the Heritage Court Memory Care Center from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
 
Margaret was born April 7, 1922 in Seneca, Wisconsin, to Jacob R. and Agnes T. (Anderson) Vedvik. She grew up in Seneca and graduated from Seneca High School in 1939. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Utica Lutheran Church in Mount Sterling.
 
Following high school graduation, Margaret enrolled at Wisconsin State College - La Crosse and received her teaching certificate in 1942. With the encouragement of her mother, she would later return to La Crosse to complete her four year degree in Elementary Education.

 
She married the love of her life, Howard W. Roemer, on October 7, 1944 at Utica Lutheran Church. Margaret and Howard enjoyed 59 years of marriage prior to his death in 2003. They were the parents of three children, Marcia, Mark, and Robert. She was very proud of her family and their accomplishments.
 
Margaret was also a very gifted and respected teacher. Her teaching career spanned nearly five decades. She began teaching elementary school in Lone Rock when she was 20 years-old. Margaret also had the privilege of teaching in Edgerton, Blanchardville, Beloit, Tomah, and Eau Claire. She taught for 17 years at Arlington Heights Elementary School, and retired in 1985. Margaret had a passion for teaching and nothing brought her more joy than teaching a young six year old child how to read and write.
 
Margaret was a faithful and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She served as the Co-President of the Trinity Women's Club for many years. She was also active in the Sons of Norway, Eau Claire Retired Teachers' Association, Trinity Quilters, Delta Kappa Gamma, Fall Creek Card Club, Luther Park Way Club, and Beaver Creek Reserve.
 
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard, and daughter, Marcia. She is survived by two sons, Mark, Belgrade, Montana and Robert (Janet) of Eau Claire. Two brothers, Jacob (Arvalene) Vedvik and Harold (Meredith) Vedvik of Seneca. Two grandsons, Navy Petty Officer Third Class Christopher Connelly, Fallon, Nevada, and Michael Roemer of Eau Claire. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd., Eau Claire, WI on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. Pastor Kurt Jacobson will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Utica Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Noah's Ark Preschool and Luther Park Bible Camp.
