Emma Schlewitz died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in
Menomonie, Wisconsin.
She was born Feb. 11, 1913 in Schneidemuhl, Germany to Gustav and Amelia
Popowski. She came to America in 1940 and married Carl Schlewitz on May 3, 1941.
Emma was a very talented seamstress and custom made draperies for J.C. Pennies in Eau Claire for 15 years. She was a life long member of St. John's Lutheran Church and its ALCW Ladies Circle. She enjoyed her rock gardens, fishing at their cabin in Chetek, WI and baking. Her apple pie was the best around.

She is survived by her sister Hedwig Gallus, Germany; niece, Gretchen (Popowski) Martin, Menomonie, WI, Helga (Werner) Budde, Friedhelm (Helga) Kruger, Germany, James (Elaine) Schlewitz, Wausau, Arnold (Helen) Semisch, Eau Claire, Jerry (Sharon) Schlewitz, Eau Claire, Duane (Brenda) Schlewitz, Fall Creek, Linda Holte, Fall Creek, Marlene Junk, Wyoming, Rodger (Barb) Christi, West Bend, WI, Laura Christi, Eau Claire, many great, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, of Eau Claire, mother and father, brothers, Otto, Fritz, and Gustav, sisters, Hildagaard, Selma, Alma, Herta and Erna.
Services for Emma will be on Saturday, March 15 at 2:30 p.m. at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, WI with Pastor Alice Hamm of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Saturday. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in the Town of Washington.
