Robert E. Solfest, a strong-willed Norwegian, age 82 of Eau Claire passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family this fourth of July at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. 
 

   Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday July 8, 2008 at First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Avenue, Eau Claire, WI. Pastor John Kerr will officiate. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire immediately following the services. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #53. Friends may call at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Rd., Eau Claire, WI on Monday evening from 5-8 pm and on Tuesday morning at the church from 10 am until the time of services.
 
Robert was a strong, patient and caring man who had an enduring love for his family and friends. Robert was born on February 3, 1926 at Luther Hospital to Sophie (Hagen) and Clarence Solfest.
 
After graduating from Eau Claire High School in 1944, he enlisted and proudly served in the Army Air Corp stationed in Dieppe, France as a radio operator.
 
Robert married Mary Lou Mehls on May 25, 1957 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls, WI. Robert, who was a life-time resident of Eau Claire, had numerous jobs in the area. He was a photographer for the Leader Telegram. He worked 26 years at A.J. Robertson Distributing Company as an office manager and for the past 20 years had delivered pharmaceuticals for Value-Center Pharmacy. 
 

 
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Lou and their four children: Robert M. David, Eric (Pamela), and Kristin (Mark) Humphrey. Additionally, Robert was blessed to have four grandchildren that he loved to be around: Alexis, Kevin, Abigail, and Andrew, two sister-in-laws, Kay Fliehr and Marlene Borman, and three nephews, Tim, Dan, and Michael Fliehr.
 
Robert enjoyed playing chess, fishing, photography, working on the computer, and collecting stamps. He was very creative and enjoyed woodworking. 
 
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Syverson Nursing Home staff and to all the doctors and nurses that provided the excellent medical care to Robert.
