Dear Mary Lou, This is for you and you children and grandchildren and everyone who loved your husband, Bob. I know he was special to all of you because you mentioned him so often when we worked at Luther and took our evening break together. So much has changed since those days back in the 90's. The last on-line condolence I wrote was for the children of Delores Sly. I am so glad to see you have four grandchildren now to lavish your love and attention on. I have nine, and they grow up way too fast. I do think of you often and always read the paper on-line to keep up with what is going on in Eau Claire. I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to you all for your loss. I used to work with Rob (Jr) and he was very proud of his father. I remember him telling me that Rob (Sr) used to play chess online or via email with (if memory serves me correctly) Kurt Vonnegut Jr. I thought that was pretty neat because I am also a chess enthusiast and Rob was quick to point out that common bond to me. I watched the video and you look like you have a wonderful and caring family and you are all very lucky to have each other to lean on during these times. You all have my condolences and I would like to especially wish Rob Jr the best and a hello to Eric as well. -Patrick

Bob, known to me as "The Medicine Man", has been missed lately. He delivered meds to a small assisted-living facility that I work at here in Eau Claire. I had heard that he was in the nursing home and promptly dropped a get-well card to him. I was so sad to hear of his passing.Winter, spring, summer, or fall he was always so prompt and cheerful. We talked of the Packers latest games, local news, and families. He was concerned about his wife in the most loving and endearing way. He once watched me make french toast and said he may even try make some at his home for his wife. I don't know if he ever did. The video tribute to him was heart-wrenching and beautifully put together. I saw the smiling faces surrounding him of all the family he talked of. To me, he was the most humble and charming of gentlemen. I have been missing him and concerned, and my deepest condolences to Mrs. Solfest , his children and grandchildren. May God give you all peace and comfort in your grieving.
