Evelyn (Evie) C. Berg, 80, long time resident of Eau Claire, died unexpectedly March 22, 2009 at her home.

Evelyn was born October 11, 1928 in Oshkosh, WI to Lynn and Hermina (Pfeiffer) Jones. Evie was the oldest of 5 children. Evelyn graduated from Weyerhaeuser High School in 1946. She worked at Ferndale Resort and the Pines in Bloomer, where she met her husband. On August 14, 1947, she married Arthur J Berg in Bloomer, WI.

Evie and Art lived in Bloomer, WI until December of 1957 when they moved to Eau Claire to raise their family. Her open home was a place of many happy memories for herself and their four children. Not only during the festive yearly traditions she instilled upon them, but also on any given Sunday after church, her home was a place of gathering and feasting. Evelyn's love for her grandchildren and great-grand children was always on display and ready to be enjoyed much like her famous Christmas Eve meatballs.

Evelyn was a member of St. Olaf Parish for over 50 years. Evie loved golf and was a long time member of the Hallie golf ladies league. One of her proudest achievements was scoring a hole in one. She also was an avid 500 card player and had a passion for cross word puzzles and bird watching. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Allan (Ann) Berg, Michael (Bonnie) Berg, and Kristine Fox, all of Eau Claire, and Kaye (Dennis) Sperber of Augusta; her grandchildren, Shaun Berg, Rashelle (Cory) Berg, Melissa (Cal) Lokken, Randy (Sabrina) Berg, Craig (Brook) Berg, Ryan and Katelyn Fox, and MacKenzie Sperber; and 5 great grandchildren Makyah, Cambree, Carson, Cody, and Paisley. She is further survived by her sisters Rita (Otto) Brandenburg of Pinetop, AZ, Barbara (Bob) Zellmer of Lincoln, MT, and Karen (Dan) Frank of Milaca, MN, sisters-in-law Ceil (Ken) Pitsch of Jim Falls, Joan Johnson of Bloomer, and brother-in-law, Leon Berg of Eau Claire, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur, brother Ronald Jones, mother- and father-in-law and brothers- and sisters-in-law.
