She grew up in Beloit, fond of golf and bowling, both of which she
played with, among others, her brother Dick and sister Marge, and
then most of her adult life as well. After graduation from Beloit
High School, she enrolled in a war-time nursing program in
Milwaukee County, becoming a registered nurse in time to work in a
Naval hospital in San Diego as a nurse cadet. Within months, the
war in the Pacific ended and Dorothy headed home.
She married Dr. Edward Brousseau in 1947 and by 1956 the couple settled in Eau Claire to raise a family. It should be emphasized that Dorothy greatly enjoyed the company of friends and family. She was social and generous. She volunteered for 20 years at the American Red Cross and volunteered for 25 or more years at the gift shop of Luther Hospital. |
