Kathryn “Kay” Buckstaff passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2009, at the age of 90. She fiercely desired to remain at home and with the exception of her last two weeks, she remained independent. Kay achieved that goal with the loyal and caring support of her neighbors, Carol LaGrander and Tim O’Reilly, her good friend, Jerry Salter, and her family.

Kay was born March 7, 1919 to Hannah (Anderson) and Ray German. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1936, attended Eau Claire State Teachers College (UW-EC), and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1940 as a registered dental hygienist. She married Robert Buckstaff in 1947. Kay was a member of the First Congregational Church in Eau Claire, the Eau Claire Service League, and served on the UW-EC Foundation.

Kay is survived by her niece Ann German (Dean Schultz) of Eau Claire, sister-in-law Helen German (Trego, WI), grandniece, Christine (Mike) Lueck and great grandniece, Lillian Lueck (Altoona, WI).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1973, her sister, Frances Coffman, and brother, Dr. Kempton L. German.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home with a graveside burial service being held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
