Marlene A. Cable passed away Tuesday morning, June 23, 2009 at her home in Eau Claire.

She was born November 30, 1938 in Stevens Point to Winfred and Nora (Hotvedt) Jensen. She married Dick Cable in Stevens Point on August 8, 1959. Marlene is survived by Dick and their four children: Kurt (Tammy) Cable of Eau Claire, Dan (Lizzy) Cable of Denver, Kathy (Chuck) Caskey of Denver, and Jodi (Randy) Welch of Sherrard, IL and twelve grandchildren: Rich, Brianna, Kaitlyn and John (Cable); Madeline, Frances, and Cooper (Cable); Charlie, Maria and Benjamin (Caskey); and Aidan and Brennan (Welch). She is also survived by her sisters Nancy (Ed) Charlton, Murphys, Calif., and Claire Hansen, Jensen Beach, FL and brothers Winfred "Butch" (Joanne) Jensen, Madison, and Steve (Pam) Jensen, Plover. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Marlene's primary calling in life was her family. She was a "stay at home mom" until all four of her children graduated from college at which time she confided, "I feel my life has been fulfilled". Since then, her attention expanded to include her twelve grandchildren. One thought she often shared was that when looking at her children, she got a glimpse to how God feels when looking upon His creation.

Marlene moved to Eau Claire, WI with her family in 1972 and loved being a member of several Eau Claire "Communities" including Trinity Lutheran Church, PEO, Library Book Group, the Walkers, the Stitchers, Bridge Clubs and several other non-profit organizations including the Eau Claire Community Foundation. In many of the groups she was known as the "Cake Lady" and especially enjoyed making birthday cakes for members of her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Friends will have an additional opportunity to meet with the family between 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2009 at the Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, and again, one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
