home to be with his Lord and his Beloved Wife, Alvina on Saturday,
February 7, 2009. |

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday February 11,
2009 at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound. Pastor
Mike Wollman will officiate. Burial will be in the Barum Cemetery
immediately following the service. Friends may call at Fuller
Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, WI on
Tuesday evening from 4-7 pm and at the church Wednesday morning an
hour prior to services
Donald was born on February 19, 1916 in Sparta, Wisconsin, to Clair and Susie (Fisher) Emery. He graduated from Sparta High School and then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he received his Butter Makers License. Following graduation he moved to the Spring Brook area and worked on a farm where he met his long time best friend and wife, Alvina who was working as a housekeeper for the same family. They married March 30, 1938 at Spring Brook. He then obtained a position at the Elk Mound Creamery as a Butter Maker until the creamery closed. He then got a position at the Pope and Talbot Paper Mill and worked there for 26 years until retirement. |

While living in Elk Mound he served as a volunteer fireman and was elected Village Clerk a position he held for several years. He has been a faithful and active member of Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church.
Donald is survived by a daughter, Ardelle (Emery) Brown and a son, James Donald Emery. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Jane (Steve) Valk, Jeffrey (Susan) Brown, Tina (Dana) King and Beau Emery and 8 great grandchildren; Chelsie, Zachary and Lisa Valk, Jessica, Allison and Kyle Brown, Nicole and Rachel King. He is also survived by a brother-in-law Thomas Hemstock, Sr. and a sister-in-law Iva Delle Christianson and several nieces and nephews along with many wonderful and loyal friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Alvina, his parents, a daughter Patricia Joy Emery, a grandson, Brian James Brown, son-in-law Clifford Brown and a sister Alta Hemstock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Don's name to Shepherd Of The Hill Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice. Friends and family may offer condolences online at www.fullerspeckien.com.
