Mary Alice Govednik, age 85, formally of Ironwood, Michigan, passed away peacefully with family and friends around her.
Mary Alice was born on July 2, 1923, to Rupert W. and Anna Ruth (Smith) Gamble in Ames, Iowa. After moving to Ohio, Mary Alice married Raymond Joseph Govednik of Ironwood, MI. In 1963, they moved to Sheboygan, WI and Mary gave birth to their son, Raymond. They moved to Ironwood, MI in 1966. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. She was involved in Boy Scouts of America with her husband and son. Mary had a passion for gardening and loved various hobbies like bingo and crafting. Her favorite place to spend time was Little Girls Point on Lake Superior, where she was able to rock collect. |

Mary is survived by her son, Raymond G., Jr. of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Joe of Park City, UT, Erin of Savage, MN, and Kenny of Savage, MN; and brother, Paul Gamble of Chargrin Falls, OH.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; and sisters, Jean Giannini and Glennis Scot.
Services for Mary will be Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire at 5:30 p.m. with Monsignor Edmund Klimek officiating. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until services at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery near Ironwood, MI, next to her husband. A graveside committal service will be held at the cemetery at a later date.
