Rod attended Elk Mound High School and graduated in 1950. He loved to reminisce and tell stories of his school days. After high school he entered the US Navy and served during the Korean War. After his return he worked at White Machine Works (Gould Batteries) and later at Uniroyal until he retired in 1992. In his early years he liked boating and fishing and was an avid football fan. The Packers were #1 in his eyes. Rod was a very social man and loved meeting new people. A shopping trip with his kids seemed to last all day because he would stop to talk to everyone. Rod also loved the polka dances and rarely "sat one out." He also had a special fondness for his little dachshund, Hansel. He will be missed by many relatives, friends, and acquaintances in the Eau Claire area.
