Ervin C. Hartman, 95, of Altoona, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Oakwood Villa in Altoona. Ervin was born December 26, 1913 in Medford, Wisconsin to Jake and Martha Hartman. He married Harriet Clausen on March 8, 1941. Ervin was in the United Stated Army from December 1942 until December 1945. He was a Technical Sergeant in the Third Battalion, 411th Infantry. He was active duty in Germany from October 1944 until November 1945, where he was a squad and platoon leader. In 1945 Ervin received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Awards. After he returned from the Army, Ervin ran Hartman Service Station in Medford, Wisconsin from 1949 until the late 1970's when he retired. Ervin and Harriet moved to Neenah Menasha, and eventually to Altoona in 1996, where they were members of St.
Mark Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Harriet; 3 brothers, Leon, Al and Tony; and 2 sisters, Arlyn Swager and Mary Hartman. He is survived by his son, Ervin "Skip" Hartman (Jane) of Eau Claire; daughter, Bonita Ruesch of San Jose, California; 4 grandchildren, Scott, Nathan, Carrie and Debbie; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be Monday, November 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM at
Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire. Visitation will start at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 2 PM at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Assembly Area #4 with military honors.
Rev. Herb Prahl will be officiating.
